Essence of Roses food flavoringDec 10, 2009
This 'Oil of Roses' food flavoring was extremely diappointing. It has no resemblance to roses at all. It has an unplesant smell and tastes terrible. It also leaves a very unpleasant, bitter after-taste.
I have searched for a source to obtain rose essence food flavoring for about 20 years, since the store I used to be able to get it closed, after being in business for nearly 100 years.
I used it to make the most delicate, special and delicious cookies that had the delicate taste and aroma of fine, delicate roses and also left the scent of roses in your mouth. I was excited to find this item and so waiting for it to come. It arrived when promised and packaged so well. I thought "at last I can make these cookies again". I had a special and fitting occaion I planned to make them for. In spite of the unpleasant smell of the flavoring, I mixed a batch, thinking maybe it was from the concentration of the flavoring. I baked one pan, they looked beautiful, but when tasted they tasted just like I said in the first 3 lines of this message. That batch was a waste of ingredients and time. It cannot be served to anyone. I really feel a big let-down. Don't they grow real roses any more?
Real rose essance is expensive, but a little goes a long way, so I was glad to spend so much on this item after looking so long for it. I am sorry I have to send this bad review.
