Selecting the Best Vanilla Extract
All vanilla extracts are not created equally. Use these guidelines to help you select the right vanilla for you.
vanilla extract - This pure vanilla extract is made using Java vanilla beans. Although harsher in flavor than the Tahitian or Bourbon vanillas, Javanese vanilla is the perfect choice for baking. It's strong, clear flavor comes through in your favorite cake or cooking recipes.
vanilla slurry - If you want the appearance of real vanilla in your cheesecake or other baked goods then vanilla slurry is the ideal choice. Combing our Javanese vanilla with ground vanilla bean specks you get both great taste and visual appeal.
2x vanilla concentrate - If you are looking for the 'all-purpose' vanilla extract then 2x vanilla concentrate is the idea choice. Concentrated to twice the strength of regular vanilla extract, this bourbon vanilla concentrate delivers a clear vanilla taste with deeper flavor notes. Use half the amount of 2x vanilla concentrate as your recipe calls for.
4x vanilla concentrate - This concentrated vanilla is four times the strength of regular vanilla extract. It's rich, flowery taste and aroma are best for recipes that call for little to no cooking. Use 1/4 the amount you would normally use and enjoy this delightful Tahitian vanilla concentrate.
artificial vanillas - Artificial vanillas offer an economical alternative to natural vanillas. Blind taste tests have shown that most people simply cannot tell the difference between natural and artificial vanillas when used in baked goods such as cookies and cakes. Clear artificial vanillas offer a strong vanilla flavor without the tint that comes from natural vanilla extract.
